SERVICE OVERVIEW

Technical Management Solutions for Ship Operations

In the challenging international maritime transport environment, the readiness and reliability of engine room machinery systems are key factors in ensuring voyage continuity. Any unexpected technical failure may lead to schedule delays, additional demurrage costs, and directly affect the shipowner’s reputation with charterers.

ISSCO provides specialized technical management support, focusing on the establishment of Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS) and the continuous monitoring of the operating parameters of main engines, generators, and auxiliary systems. We serve as a reliable technical bridge between shore-based shipowners and onboard engineering officers.

Through rigorous assessment procedures in accordance with the standards of leading international classification societies (IACS) and the regulations of the vessel’s flag state administration, ISSCO’s technical team works closely with all relevant parties to optimize spare parts resources, minimize vessel downtime, and preserve the long-term value of maritime assets.

1. What does Maritime Technical Management Services include?

Technical management services include: developing and monitoring preventive maintenance plans (PMS), tracking machinery and equipment condition, handling emerging troubleshooting, planning and supervising dockings and overhauls, managing spare parts and consumable store allowances, and coordinating preparations for Classification and Port State Control (PSC) inspections.

2. How does Technical Management differ from Full Ship Management?

Technical Management focuses specifically on the physical condition, machinery, hull, and technical safety of the vessel. Meanwhile, Full Ship Management also includes Crew Management (Crewing), Commercial Operations Management, vessel accounting and finance, and Safety Management Systems (ISM/ISPS Company DOC). Shipowners can flexibly select the technical module alone according to their organizational structure.

3. How does ISSCO implement the Planned Maintenance System (PMS)?

We digitize the PMS process to integrate seamlessly with the shipowner's existing management software or implement ISSCO's standardized system. Maintenance schedules are based on actual machinery running hours and manufacturer guidelines (Maker manuals), enabling accurate forecasts for spare part replacement cycles and preventing unexpected breakdowns.

4. How does ISSCO support Classification surveys and maritime safety inspections?

We monitor schedules for annual, intermediate, and special surveys; plan load testing for lifting appliances and inspection of life-saving and firefighting appliances; and work directly with the crew to thoroughly resolve any recommendations or deficiencies (Conditions of Class / Deficiencies).

5. What information does the shipowner need to provide to initiate cooperation discussions?

Shipowners only need to provide basic vessel information, including: Vessel Name, IMO Number, Vessel Type (Bulk, Container, Tanker, etc.), Year of Build, Flag State, Classification Society (Class), and the intended scope of cooperation (e.g., PMS setup support, drydocking supervision, or routine technical management). ISSCO's technical team will respond with a detailed proposal within 24 working hours.
